It also comes at a time of traumatic events in real life which make this particular instalment a touching one as the film imposes the question of true equality and peace within a society’s hierarchy.
Topped with some highly intense sequences, Mockingjay is an emotional thrill ride that wraps up the series on a highly faithful note, except more twists would have given the film a little more oomph for avid book fans.
With the original source material being the least favourite of the three-part book trilogy (based on fan consensus) and being dragged out into a two-parter, a few changes would have allowed for a greater urgency of the split along with a new and positive perspective on the closing chapter.
Verdict: A solid closer to the epic Hunger Games series which will please fans, except perhaps leaving them wanting a little more in the way of surprises.
