Our very own Milly Alcock, has put on the cape and stepped into the boots of Supergirl.
Raised in Sydney, Milly has landed some local roles before being casted in Game of Thrones spin off House of the Dragon, where she captivated us with her powerful character, enough that DC decided to choose her to be play Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl.
The film opens by introducing us to Kara, a young woman living deep in the shadows of her own potential, severely underestimated by everyone around her. Estranged from her family and drifting through a directionless existence, she has no real plans or ambitions for the future.
Everything changes overnight when her only true companion, her dog Krypto, is mysteriously poisoned. Spurred by fury, and a desperate quest for a cure, Kara is thrust out of her reclusiveness. What follows is a breathtaking, high-stakes odyssey that takes viewers on an epic adventure across the farthest reaches of the universe, forcing Kara to discover the hero she was always meant to be.
The story brings in many different characters as she visits different planets, which definitely has a Star Wars vibe to it. A crucial part to the story is we learn the backstory of where her and Superman come from and why they had been sent to earth.
She’s the girl next door superhero that can really kick butt, along side a great soundtrack featuring Halsey, Wet Leg, Wolf Alice, and the great John Williams.
Final Verdict
If you’re looking for a fun, action-packed superhero movie, don’t miss Supergirl on the big screen! 7/10
