The Dark Knight Rises Movie Review!

Nolan’s trilogy has come to an end, and boy did it go out with a bang!
It is remarkable on all scales, and concludes the series in the most tremendous way..
I have to say that this one was definetley the best one in the series, and dare i say best superhero movie of the year!

Its near three-hour run time does not leave you feeling bloated as the movie needs all the screen time it gets to establish its story-line. It also feels as if it wasn’t enough with the ending leaving open a lot of doors of the story lines developed throughout the film. But despite this, the film lives up to all it’s hype as Nolan delivers an emotionally action packed finale with a ending that is sure to get all fans of the Batman who know his history smiling.

Lets start of with the good aspects of the film, the new character additions of the film really make it what it is, such as Anne Hathaway who delivers a convincing portrayal of the Catwoman as whenever shes on screen with Batman shes welcomed making the dark knight feel like less of a loner. Tom Hardy did a excellent job of portraying the films villain, Bane.. in that you really feel that Gotham is truly under chaos from this uncontrollable psychotic masked villain. Another excellent edition is Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s character John Blake, who has a great deal of screen time at playing James Gordon detective/cop and shines throughout the film.
The only complaint of the film, is that it sometimes suffers pacing problems due to its long 2 hr 45 min run-time as their is a huge amount of dialogue to get through.. but other than this minor problem, the film really exceeds in all other aspects.

The cinematography, screenplay and score are all exceptional. It also provides audiences with some really great chase and action sequences that just amp up everything from previous films. The film’s main success is that it contains some deep moral messages on the soul and the fear of death that make this film a true stand-out combined with its emotional punch which are truly highlighted by Michael Caine’s performance as Alfred with his emotionally charged speeches on growing up Bruce Wayne since childhood. On a side note, I also found Christian Bale’s batman voice less annoying in this one compared to its predecessors.

Overall, a tremendously fitting send off to the Caped Crusader in true emotionally charged, action packed, epic fashion that should leave audiences and batman fans happy whilst also providing some new revelations to get fans further excited and discussing about hours after viewing the film.

Overall Rating:

9/10

  1. When it was all said and done, I stood up, clapped, whipped some tears away from my eyes, and smiled by how happy I was with what Nolan gave us for the last time. What a way to end a great trilogy and it doesn’t get any better. Great review.
