The episode before the storm did just what it promised by leaving fans on the edge of their seat for next week’s mid-season finale!
Let’s take a look at all the major things that went down below.
Stydia!.. Yes this is too good to be left for last. Stydia finally happened last night after Stiles suffered a panic attack (he should of had one ages ago) which then led to Lydia planting one on him to slow down his pulse. Did it work? Of coarse It did.. But does this mean their an item now? Or was it just a simple act of helping Stiles live another day?.. Only time will tell.
Alison and Isaac?.. Well things certainly got awkward when it came down to saving their family members as Scott spotted her new found-closeness with Isaac. We even saw her garner some worry over him as her dad tasered him. Will the two hook-up already! (Or make it clear that they wont).
Derek’s act of bravery.. Goodbye Alpha Derek! As the lunar eclipse approached he made the brave decision to give up his Alpha powers in order to rescue his sister Cora. But things are not so happy go-lucky just yet as Peter seemed rather uncomfortable with it.. But why would he be? Does he have another agenda we don’t know about yet? We have grown to like him this season, but have we forgotten just how ugly his evil side can be?
Nemeton Drama.. Stiles and Lydia finally figured out just what Lydia has been drawing for ages leading them to contact Scott in a plan to rescue their loved ones. Scott also managed to muster back his morals as Ms.Morell gave just enough information about the Nemeton and how she helped by sending Braden (the motorbike girl seen in episode 1 of the season) to convince him to re-think his pact with the baddies.
Icy bath to recover loved ones?.. How beautiful was this scene shot! The music, the intercutting with other characters, the emotion.. Everything was spot on. It really built the tension on just how much is at stake when our favourites took the chance on losing their lives in order to recover loved ones. I also enjoyed how each character had a respective character to help them during the process.. Lydia with Stiles, Isaac with Alison and Dr.Deaton and Scott (poor Scott not having Alison) along with a object from their loved ones (reminiscent of Harry Potter and the Goblet Of Fire anyone?)
The secret Father no-more!.. Wow I did not see that coming.. We finally caught a glimpse of Scott’s never-before-seen father who somehow remarkably looks likes his best friend’s dad Sheriff Stilinks (could be just me seeing the resemblance though). What is he doing in Beacon Hills? Why did he have a breakdown in Scott’s room? And why was this big reveal by Stiles smartly placed just before Scott entered the icy water?
Side-Notes.. How funny was the girl waiting to be counselled by Ms.Morells, that line when she saw Lydia’s tree drawing problem had me in stitches. And finally, what did that final scene of Scott’s eyes turning yellow mean? Could he be the powerful lone-wolf now?
