‘Trilogy Time’ was another one of those good fillers, although not advancing any major plot developments.. we were given a funny look back at there future predictions in were there life would go, which provided for some entertaining and funny stories in seeing how fan’s favorite characters have changed over time.
It all starts from watching the ‘Star Wars’ trilogy and making a pack in improving their futures, and then we take a trip down memory lane and see how things have changed over time, which gave some nice look backs at previous seasons. In phases of breaking up with Lily to reuniting, to Ted dating and losing Robin.
A big change in character came particularly from Barney who came to his senses after countless years of having fun, in that he wanted a steady and healthy relationship with Quinn in which he was having a fight with in the beginning and by the end they are focusing on their future and moving in together.
We also got to see some of HIMYM’s formula in works with its non-linear fashion, with its use of flashbacks and some nice imaginations of what they would like if they were rich or had great careers, which added more to the humor of the episode.. particularly the lonely nerdy Ted in which all his friends are living lavish lives.
Not much focus on the ladies in this episode that is Robin and Lily despite being featured in flashbacks and predicted future imagination. It was mostly focused on the trio that is Marshall, Ted and Barney.
And by the end of the episode we got a nice look at the real future, in which Ted has his first child.. but of coarse still no sight of the mother. This was a nice addition to the episode with a nice look back at the underlying story of the show.
Overall, a good and entertaining filler episode to an exceptionally well done season. Will be nice to see some greater development in story lines for the finale eps to come, in which is most likely to occur.
