Exclusive Interview: Shevyn Roberts on Justin Bieber and New Single “Runnin Outta Time”

Shevyn Roberts is no stranger to the music industry, winning titles for Top Breakout  Artist and Best Pop Song at the Music Awards to touring with some of the most well known artists around the globe. She was  also named one of Music Connection Magazine’s Hot 100 Unsigned Artists & Bands  of the Year and has opened for such prominent singers as Justin Bieber. She has had so much success in the pop world that she  is venturing over to EDM and is loving the vibe. Her new dance single Runnin Outta Time’ is expected to sweep the nation and be a hit at the end of 2020 and long into 2021.

We talked to Shevyn about transitioning to a different music genre, performing for music legends, and her future goals for her career.

Q: What inspired your transition from making pop music to making EDM music?

“EDM music really puts me on a high happy vibe. It really allows me to dance as an artist,  jump around on stage and have a good time. “

Q: Which of your songs would you say is your proudest?

“Definitely would be this remix I’m about to drop titled “Runnin Outta Time”. I love this song because not only is it a fun dance song, but the lyrics also have spiritual, hypothetical, and metaphorical interpretations.”

Q: What artists inspire you/you are a fan of?

“I really love Gwen Stefani! She has the best fashion style and the coolest voice and I love her personality. Her energy makes me happy!”

Q: Do you feel that having a background in dancing helps you perform better when touring with your music?

“Yes most definitely it does! Dance really helped me on stage as a performer really connect with the music and the audience. I grew up winning dance competitions as a Six Time National Solo Champion Dancer, to sum it up. Basically I would be performing by myself in front of 20,000 people in an arena and getting standing ovations and really moving the crowds with my performances. So it’s definitely something I’m accustomed to. It’s something that I really love to do and something that’s just generally in my blood.”

Q: Are you more passionate about singing, dancing, or acting?

“Music is definitely my favorite, and I’m the most passionate about music just because I’ve always had a relationship with Music growing up even as a child. It really affected my mood, inspired me and definitely helped me perform as a dancer. Acting is definitely second on my list because it’s super fun to embody a character, but because the camera is always stopping and starting, it doesn’t give me the same high that performing to my music does.”

Q: Where do you see your music career in 10 years?

“I love that question actually. I see myself on tour constantly making new music and definitely having a hybrid sound, almost kind of creating my own style genre. I look forward to working with different producers and writers.”

Q: You have opened for many of the greats, including Justin Beiber. Were you fans of these artists in your childhood before performing for them? Do you feel like you have come full circle?

“I definitely was a fan of Justin Bieber and all American rejects records before opening up their show. I don’t know if I’ve come full circle yet. I would like to think coming full circle means that they will be opening up for me LOL. But definitely it has been fun, and I look forward to seeing what the future holds as far as touring and collaborations. “

Q:How does it feel to have received so many awards and recognitions for your music?

“It feels really great, and I guess I’m an overachiever because I definitely still have more goals in mind when it comes to awards and achievements that I want to attain.”

Q:Do you have anything in the works that you can tease?

Yes! I recently shot my music video and it has some cool dancing, but it also incorporates “time travel” and I meet my future self. It was a fun concept to play with and I can’t wait to release the video. So stay tuned for that!

Q:We are so excited to keep following your amazing journey. Where can we find you on social media?
