Blended, is yet another rom-com film starring Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler as its leads. When these two are together though, it’s surprisingly always a good time as both bring out the best in one another.
Revolving around a bad blind date gone wrong, recent divorcee Lauren (Barrymore) and widower Jim (Sandler) end up crossing paths more times than they’d like. It then leads up to them miraculously ending up on a resort trip to Africa, in which is set out to ‘blend’ families together. I know, cheesy right?
But on the trip we watch as the families come together in a hilariously touching way, as each partner brings something to the table for each others kids.

| Barrymore and Sander prove being a blended famiy ain’t easy.. |
If you loved 50 First Dates, you’ll certainly get a kick out of this one.. especially that it has some slight references to the film, most notably a return appearance of a hilarious forgetful character from the film.
Where Blended falters is it’s structure, at times ruining touching moments along with sometimes adding to much over-the-top humour where it was not needed. It distracts from the film being taken more seriously, in which it could have been. It’s always good for comedies to have a proper balance of serious and fun tones throughout a film, without resorting to over-the-top humour.
Don’t be fooled by the bashing though. It’s become quite a tradition for Sandler to be bashed over his films, but really when it comes down to it.. Blended is one of the better ones which is mostly thanks to his bubbling chemistry with Barrymore.
After all, your not going for some mind-riveting film right? It’s simply a light-hearted comedy which at times manages to be somewhat touching. Go into this latest comedy offering wanting to have fun and you’ll have a blast!
