3-D cinema makes a comeback with Robert Rodriguez‘s latest action blockbuster, Alita: Battle Angel.
He is not the only big player involved in the project either with James Cameron (Titanic and Avatar) having a hand in the screenplay and even produced the project.
The film follows the story of a neglected cyborg who is giving a new lease of life under the name Alita. She although has no recollection of her past life and tries to find out just who she is!
From there viewers are treated to a visual plethora of epicness. While the story may be a little too familiar in the sci-fi department, the cinematography is just gorgeous. Alita (played by Rosa Salazar) herself is captivating with just her appearance as she looks like a human and CGI hybrid.

It is not all just eye-candy though as the film does have a little societal commentary amongst its action-heavy story.
A subtle but clever nod to just how cold post-modern society is and just how it’s shaping and effecting humans morale.
Existentialism is also brought into play but going into that will just give too much away.
FYI: While 3-D has had its turmoils in the past it is a nice bit of nostalgia here and adds another layer to the already captivating visuals.
Verdict: A fun action blockbuster with incredible visuals that has a little something to stay.
Overall Rating: 7/10
