We are going through such a dark time at the moment in the world, there is no denying that. Plans have been thrown into chaos and infected all aspects of life, including the entertainment industry.
Rising pop star Dua Lipa particularly planned a full marketing roll-out for her sophomore studio effort ‘Future Nosalgia’ but unfortunately it was all thrown out the window. Still, she has managed to get amazing success with first two singles “Don’t Start Now” and “Physical”.
Marching ahead and not letting the virus destroy the happiness for both her fans and herself she has decided to move forward with new single “Break My Heart” and moved up the release of the album. We honestly can’t thank her enough for dropping the aptly titled ‘Future Nostalgia’ because we could all use a bit of nostalgia right now.
The album is full of throwbacks to the vibrant days of disco pop with a mix of modernity and it’s just what the doctor ordered.
From the get-go, the title track gets you moving and grooving with each track providing pulsative waves of energy and euphoria throughout.
This is especially highlighted on all three singles “Don’t Start Now”, “Physical” and “Break My Heart”. Album tracks “Hallucinate” and “Levitating” are also worth mentioning here as particular moments which just ooze pop ecstasy.
Before she says goodbye Dua winds things down with final two tracks, “Good In Bed” and “Boys Will Be Boys” which provide for a chilled but equally catchy end to the wild ride that is ‘Future Nostalgia‘.
While shorter than its predecessor and less emotional, the LP proves to be the dance pop sister to her equally amazing self-titled debut.
Best Tracks: Physical, Don’t Start Now, Break My Heart, Hallucinate, Levitating, Pretty Please, Love Again.
Album verdict: 9.5/10
