The LA Complex 2×01 “Vacancy” Episode Review!

After seeing the first season during it’s Canadian run, the show finally returned with a new long awaited episode and did it deliver? … It sure did.

Let’s start of with last seasons cliffhanger.. In which Connor set fire to his house.. He was safe and well and looks set to improve his mental health this season after spotting some mental health advocators that help past traumas. Raquel in the finale found out she was pregnant, and in this episode we saw her cope with the new by trying to create a stable relationship with Connor.. (we are still in the dark as to who is the father).

Abby and Nick moved in together on good terms but both struggled career wise (which we love about the show with its realistic approach when job searching) Abby’s movie cut got scrapped forcing her to act as janitor in which she only scored 50 bucks for which did not cover the rent. Poor Abby, when will she ever score a break! Nick on the other hand ran in to old flame Sabrina who is applying for the same comedy tv show gig, she still seems to share some interest him and in which came to their advantage as both her and Nick got the gig. I sense that this will cause some major mayhem for Abby and Nick’s blossoming relationship.

Now on to Tariq and Kaldrick, after last seasons massive blow for the two, all ways revealed with Kaldrick dealing with the aftermath in which he feels guilty over. Tariq in the beginning is in hiding before facing him and making a deal to go back home to Montreal … In which he agrees to, Tariq just wants to get away from the massive trauma he experienced.. Kaldrick in the closing scenes of the night was found bloody and unconscious as he tries to commit suicide over what he did. Will he survive or won’t he? We will have to wait till next week.

After watching the premiere, im sad to see two past favorites (Alicia and Tariq)go unless there are possible returns in the future? I hope so.
Despite this, I really enjoyed the new character editions of the homeless sister and brother as you really felt for their situation.. Let’s hope they also score a break some time soon.

Overall, a excellent return to this fresh new drama, that continues to provide viewers a slightly authentic outlook of the struggles faced in La La land.
I look forward to seeing how the rest of the season plays out and judging by the premiere, i think we are in for another great season of The LA Complex.

Overall Rating:
