Robin Sparkles returned (or should we say Robin Daggers!) last night for one final chapter.
Sparkles is now dead.. We will miss you Sparkles!, thanks for giving us some memorable tunes (Let’s go to the mall).
Here are the top highlights of this hilarious installment.
Source : CBS
Ted and his freaky deeky new crush.. Jeanette (Abby Elliot, SNL) was the new girl obsessing over Ted, and as usual Ted thought she was the one! For a moment i thought she was too by spotting her on the train in the opening scenes of the night, the way he voice-overed that scene further made me suspect her before the episode progressed. This story-line smartly allowed the gang to embark on the fine-line of what is love and what is just plain freak-obsessing. Ted then realized that Jeanette was just another little mistake before actually meeting ‘the one’.
Robin & Barney.. Barney finally fell under the obsessive spell tonight, now none of the gang have not been obsessed with at least one person in there life (i admit even i have had one of those little obsessed phases).
Barney was on the hunt after learning Robin’s love obsession during her teeny-bopper days leading him to meet a string of her ex-Canadian boyfriends which than led him to discover Robin Sparkles crisis tape.. (the gang’s reactions to this tape were priceless!.) It was great to finally learn just how Robin Sparkle disappeared out of the lime-light once deciding to become the darker Robin Daggers. I guess Barney’s now seen all the sides of his soon-to-be wife, warts and all! Now allowing them to trust each other even further.
Lily & Marshall.. These two were pure classic last night, especially Lily (def still my fav on the show) who admitted that she interfered with fate and knocked on Marshall’s door into getting together. After all these years Marshall thought it was just destiny, but Lily actually made it all happened (and look at where they are now!). I couldn’t stop laughing at the segment where Lily was knocking on the dormitories looking for Marshall, especially her reaction to the punk-lesbian at the door (pure classic Lily, reminding us of her secret Robin fantasies).
Side-Notes.. It was a Canadian frenzy with plenty of Canadian guest stars.. from the likes of Jason Priestly, James Van Der Beek to David Coulier (who was hilarious in his denial over being Robin’s object of affection). Also have to throw in Lily’s hilarious quote of the night “Even when Canadians are mean there polite”.
Overall, a classic gem of an episode that highlighted the glory days of How I Met Your Mother. It was one hilariously entertaining episode that reminded us fans just why it became such a hit show.
