The 2016 Teen Choice Awards, hosted by Victoria Justice and John Cena, was held on July 31st at The Forum in Inglewood, California. The event marked the 17th Teen Choice Awards, and hosted numerous performers including Flo Rida, Charlie Puth, Jason Derulo, Ne-Yo and Serayah.
Justin Timberlake was honoured at the event, receiving the Decade Award. His modest speech asked the teens of the world not to learn from his example, rather to learn from all the greats who came before him. Timberlake also spoke of the advice given to him by the great Muhammad Ali, who passed away in early June.
Jessica Alba also led a more serious segment in the show, addressing the issue of gun violence with the help of performer Ne-Yo singing Marvin Gaye’s ‘What’s Going On?’. Alba also introduced the family members of gun violence victims on stage, encouraging #stoptheviolence.
