5 Things You Didn’t Know About Beyoncé

Beyoncé Knowles-Carter is one of the biggest stars in the music world today. Even though her career evolved throughout the decades, it never showed signs of stopping. This Texas-born artist has topped charts in four different decades (the 1990s, 2000s, 2010s and 2020s) with countless hits like “Single Ladies”, “Crazy in Love” and “Formation”. Beyoncé is also a Grammy winner—she’s won 24 of them—and dabbled in acting, producing, directing and fashion design. But, even though she’s a huge A-lister, not many things are known about her personal life. She managed to keep things hush-hush for a long time, so if you’re want to know more about Queen Bey, here are five things you might have missed in the tabloids.

She was named after her mother

As Beyoncé said to People magazine, her mother, Tina Knowles-Lawson, was born Celestine Beyoncé. After she married Bey’s father, she was worried that her maiden name will disappear, since due to a clerical error, her brother’s last name is Beyincé. So, to keep her maiden name alive, Tina named her little girl after her surname. Roland Beyince, Bay’s uncle, shared the story with the world during the 2013 premiere of “Life Is But a Dream”, a documentary about her life.

She competed in singing competitions

When she was just 12, Beyoncé appeared in a series called “Star Search”, a singing and dancing competition, with her singing troupe Girls Tyme. Even though the group received good scores from the judges, they still lost to another group, Skeleton Crew. While it might not seem like much today, Beyoncé states that this experience was a defining moment in her childhood and career, and she even included a sample from the show in her hit song “Flawless”.

She is a huge thrill-seeker

Ever since she worked hard to save money for roller coasters at Six Flags as a child, Beyoncé became a huge thrill-seeker. She filmed herself on a toboggan for her documentary “Year of 4” and bungee jumped in New Zealand. According to sources, she and her husband Jay-Z are also very adventurous in bed. One might think that this super sexy couple doesn’t need any help in the bedroom, but sometimes they also like to include various toys. One time, Beyoncé and Jay spend $6,000 in New York on adult goodies, including gold-plated X-rated toys. You don’t have to travel anywhere to grab your goodies, so simply order sex toys online and spice up your love life just like Bey and Jay. If this power couple can do it, so can you!

Her favorite number is four

Beyoncé said that number four has special significance for her because it represents many important dates in her life. She was born on September 4th, Jay was born on December 4th, her mother was born on January 4th and her wedding anniversary is on April 4th (4.4.2008). Four is also the name of her fourth studio album. In fact, she loves this number so much that she and Jay have it tattooed in Roman numerals on their ring fingers.

According to fan theories, Blue Ivy’s second part of the name might be inspired by the Roman numerals for four. The name Ivy is pronounced the same as the letters I and V for Roman number four which is IV.

Who is Sasha Fierce?

Beyoncé told to the Herald Sun in 2008 that she used to suffer from stage fright that she managed to overcome thanks to her stage persona Sasha Fierce. Sasha used to give her confidence and made her performances much more interesting. There were things Beyoncé could never say, do or wear, but Sasha could! So, she adopted this Sasha Fierce persona and even named her 2008 album “I am…Sasha Fierce” after her. Even though it’s not clear when Miss Fierce stopped showing up, Bay denounced her alter-ego when she declared “Sasha Fierce is done. I killed her” in a 2010 interview with Allure.

These interesting facts about Queen Bey probably made you into an even bigger fan of this diva and that’s natural. We’re all excited to see where her career will take her next, so we can get a better insight into her life.
