Ellie Goulding‘s long awaited fourth studio album, titled Brightest Blue is finally here.
It has been a long time in the making with Ellie releasing the EP’s very first single from the album way back in 2018. WOWZERS!
In the end the wait was well worth it as the unique pop singer serves a combo of her debut style along with her more current mainstream pop sound.
Divided into two very different halves, fans are given a variety of new material on the first half while the closing EG.0 provides for a collection of the singles put out in the lead up to release.
The first half is very deep and reflective where Ellie digs deeper than ever and showcases her more vulnerable side. From “Power” to the closing title track, everything is just exquisite. “Love I’m Given”, “New Heights”, “Woman”, “Flux” and “Bleach” are truly some EPIC personal triumphs.
Spread throughout is interludes that help take listeners on a cohesive journey throughout which in turn provide listeners an inner monologue when progressing through the album.
Part two, EG.0 then turns things up to by x100 as Ellie serves a plethora of genres that all somehow fit under the pop umbrella. Hit after hit, fans leave the entire experience on a high.
Best tracks: Power, Love I’m Given, How Deep Is Too Deep, Slow Grenade, New Heights, Brightest Blue, Flux, Woman, Tides, Bleach, Close To Me, Sixteen and Hate Me.
Final verdict: Ellie Goulding proves she is a force to be reckoned with on Brightest Blue as she combines her past and present into a cohesive body of work. 8/10
