We love a good Netflix Christmas film, as they are akin to Hallmark and Lifetime movies that you’d expect to watch on cable during the season. Now that it’s November which is practically the night before Christmas anyway, Vanessa Hudgens is starring in a new take on an old Christmas tale.
Having already made her debut in the genre in The Princess Switch, Vanessa Hudgens is back as a twenty or thirty something tired of true love fantasies. Somehow, and it’s not really explained, a medieval knight Sir Cole (Josh Whitehouse) is catapulted into the modern realm and is instantly out of place. Think Kate and Leopold, with more family friendly romantic tension.

As he marvels at the wonders of technology- in one scene he cluelessly demands to know where the car music or ‘lyrical melody’ is coming from-the townsfolk worry that science teacher Brooke (Hudgens) is cruelly indulging a poor man’s idiotic fantasy. Of course, she is a science teacher jaded by love, and convinced by the rationales of science, etc etc.
Oh, and his phrases are just plain pompous, but that’s the whole idea.
We say Greetings, m’lady to this one.
