Taylor Swift’s ‘Lover’: Our Seven Favourite Tracks

We pick the top seven songs from Taylor Swift’s seventh studio album ‘Lover’.

Taylor Swift is well and truly back.

Lover, Tay Tay’s seventh studio album finally arrived in all its glory on Friday, August 23 and we have had it on repeat ever since.

Now that we have had a few days to process the entire body of work and have tamed our excitement (sort of) we have now gone and picked our top seven tracks from the album.

Here they are:

1. Cruel Summer

An absolute banger that is far from Cruel summer tbh.

It has all the right ingredients to be a future radio hit and is begging to be played on a hot summer night while cruising around town.

2. False God

Lets give Taylor a round of applause. What a beautifully well structured and delightfully toned piece of music!

There is something so powerful about this luscious saxophone-infused tune that has you coming back for more. If you need to calm down after a stressful day at the office this is the perfect chill out song to help do the trick.

3. Lover

This has something for new and old Taylor fans alike.

It’s a mix of Speak Now, Red and 1989 and we are so here for it.

Move over Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect, there is a new wedding song in town.

4. The Man

Ladies and gentleman, will you please stand because “The Man” will without a doubt be stuck in your head for days to come.

A feminist anthem where the 29-year-old pop powerhouse takes aim at her naysayers by simply asking if she would be treated the same had she been of the opposite gender.

Get em, girl!

5. Cornelia Street

We simply have no words for this wonderful little track.

It tells the story of a street where a whole lot of s*** went down for Swift.

Her pain although translates into something of pure beauty. What makes this such a remarkable highlight is Taylor’s ability to highlight how places and unadorned things, like a street name can hold so much value.

P.S. it also kind of reminds of us of Reputation‘s sultry number “Dress”.

6. I Think He Knows

What an absolute gem of a track!

“I Think He Knows” gives us such a nostalgic teen vibe that just makes you want to get up and dance.

It’s a different style for Taylor and makes for one of the album’s stand-out tracks.

BRB, grooving.

7. Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince

This moody piece could have been something out of Reputation and kind of has a “So It Goes…” vibe but more poppy with a touch of Lover lightness with its cheerleader chants.

The title alone is something out of this world and so is this track!

Honourable mentions: Paper Rings, The Archer, Soon You’ll Get Better, You Need To Calm Down and Death By A Thousand Cuts.

Overall Album Rating: 9/10
