Meet KEZRA, a Melbourne singer/songwriter who has just released her debut single, ‘Better Place’.
We got to chat with her about the song, touring and more!

1. Fave current song and inspirations?
My favourite song currently is ‘Smoke to much’ by JOY. Absolute banger, simplicity at it’s finest- smoky/breathy vocals with simple driving beats.
2. What inspired your new single and are there any hidden meanings?
I had a break from writing for a couple of months, to freshen my thoughts and recharge and was only going to write again when I felt the need to.. not because I ‘had’ to.
I was sitting at my keys one day and was playing these 3 simple chords and came up with the line ‘There’s a waiting game between you and I’. I had been thinking about friendships that were dissipating and wondering what I could do to stop that from happening and ‘Better Place’ was born, as well as me getting back into writing music.
3. Most memorable concert?
My favourite concert was when I went to the Corner Hotel and saw Ben Howard in 2013 – He’s an artist I’d constantly be playing all the time every day! My friend & I were about 2 metres from the stage and I was standing there in awe of him and his guitar skills all night.
I left his concert that night with this incredible feeling running through my body which i’d never felt before – that’s when I began to write a lot more music after seeing him.
4. Any major plans for 2018?
2018 is the debut of my new project KEZRA which i’m so happy to be letting free. This year I plan to keep writing and producing more music & hopefully an Aussie Tour with the band.
