Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) Film Review

After a majorly successful first outing as a new brand of Marvel heroes, the guardians are back for round 2!

But does  director James Gunn’s sequel live up to it’s predecessor?  Well, not exactly.

This time around,  the story follows Star Lord’s (Chris Pratt) family history.

Family is a key theme this time around as it also deals with the difficult sister relationship between Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Nebula (Karen Gillan)

Baby Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel) is as cute as can be, Drax (Dave Bautista) hilarious as ever and Rocket (Bradley Cooper) is his usual self.

While all entertaining, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2  has a lot of set-up to get through and quite random scenes in the early stages of the film.

But once Vol. 2 does find its footing, it is too far into it. Once everything does come together, it is an entertaining ride and musters the same energy as the original.

There is also a lot of laugh out loud moments that make this sequel a fun one, along with the usual funky soundtrack stylings.

Verdict: While not a straight shooter, there is still plenty of space for enjoyment.

Overall Rating: 7/10
