Me Before You (2016) Film Review
A touching romantic drama..
Popular novel Me Before You by JoJo Moyes has received the film treatment. But is it worth the watch? Find out below.
The film touches on struggling young woman, Lou (Game of Throne’s Emilia Clarke
) who has recently lost her boring cafe job.
Being the breadwinner for her entire family this forces her to find another job. Lou’s stars align as it leads her to a life-changing job in which she looks after a paraplegic patient named Will (Sam Claflin).
Sam’s character tests her in ways like never before, igniting lost passions and self-discovery along with bringing a brand new light to his own life.
Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin also share an unremarkable chemistry which make this romantic film a standout from the usual rom-com fluff.
While at times a little corny, the movie makes for an entertaining and heartfelt drama that flows effortlessy without overstaying its welcome.
Verdict: A touching romantic drama that is full of laughs, tears, and drama. Perfect for a night-in!
Overall Rating: 8/10
