Your very first band of anti-heroes are here (almost)!! Well technically the second after Deadpool but he’s just one guy.

Directed by David Ayer (Fury, Training Day), Suicide Squad is the assembling of the world’s most dangerous super villains. Provided with the most powerful weapons at the government’s disposal, the group faces an enigmatic entity which they know next to nothing about. Yet, as they realise they weren’t picked to succeed but only to execute a strategic failure, will the most vicious of all criminals face their enemies head-on, or simply descend once again into their old lives of mayhem.

We’ve seen a few pics and vids here and there, most notably a teaser trailer and Jared Leto’s all new super-jacked joker. But the new full length feature trailer reveals not only the cinematic looks of all villains but also their ferocious selves in action. It’s one aspect of the film the producers are sure to exploit- the star line-up including Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Will Smith as Deadshot, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, Adam Beach as Slipknot, Tatsu Yamashiro as Katana and of course, Jared Leto the Joker in a tuxedo shooting machine guns.

We’ve yet to see Ben Affleck’s Batman make an official appearance, presumably the studio doesn’t want to indulge the audiences too much before Dawn of Justice, or Raymond Olubawale’s King Shark for that matter, but as it’s still seven months until release we’re sure to see more of them in the upcoming trailers.

There are a lot of things that could go wrong in Suicide Squad, first and foremost the long-standing nemesis of all superhero films – overcrowding as seen in the Spider-Man films, I look forward to see how DC deals with this when, unlike The Avengers, none of these characters have been previously introduced. Leto’s performance as Joker is also another worry, perhaps the question on everybody’s mind is ‘Can he follow Heath Ledger?’

We’ll see.

Suicide Squad hits Australian cinemas in August.
