FILM: Jurassic World (2015) Review

Jurassic Park Series takes a deeper bite…

Jurassic World marks the return to the  Jurassic Park franchise, this time the park has been revamped with genetically mutated dinosaurs, allowing the park to preserve the extinct species. But things go awry when one experiment goes wrong, forcing the new park to relive the horrors of its past.

What makes the modern sequel work, is its familiarity with its original source material. It converges its old-school tricks into new tricks and even goes as far to re-introduce familiar sets much to the pleasure of original fans who grew up with the series.

Pratt and Howard prove
superb dinosaur companions.

Complete with current hot property Chris Pratt as main protagonist, Owen and Bryce Dallas Howard as Claire who actually wears high-heels throughout the entire film. There is also the usual younger sibling ensemble with brothers Gray (Ty Simpkins) and Zach (Nick Robinson) along with Netflix’s Daredevil baddie Vincent D’Onofrio playing human nemesis, Hoskins.

Be warned, if you didn’t like the original series you will NOT like this one as it borrows the same formula. Go in knowing that it’s from the same 90’s family and leave all critical thinking at the door.

Well keep at least some of your brain as the flick does subtly make a statement on modern day society, which is corporation greed over human life. Society is always trying to take things to extremes when it comes to making profit, but Jurassic World puts into question at what cost?

VERDICT: A perfect return to a 90’s classic that manages to keep up with the times by adding a bit of modernity.
